I've Been Caught in a Giant Snowball

All it takes is just one snowflake
to fall and attach itself to another
snowflake,
and before you know it,
 there's a giant snowball careening
down the hill out of control.
 It started out small
and now it's turned into something big.

I've been thinking about
what's been going on in my sewing room
as I've finally had time to unpack all of my quilty stuff.

Getting organized is a good thing.
You can't do sharp work without a sharp pencil.
So taking the time
to put everything in an appropriate place
will just make
it more fun later.

But it doesn't take long before
one tidy spot leads

to another spot that needs work,

that leads to another spot...
And as you continue
to ride in that giant snowball
you're thinking,
"Help! Will this ever end?"

And guess what?
It isn't long before
you find yourself at the bottom of the hill.
Yahoo!
All that hard work is done.
Everything's put away.

There's nothing left to do now
but
 HAVE FUN!

Learning A New Dance

Dancing, like quilting, is an art form.
I have made many attempts
throughout my life, trying
to make my body move to the rhythm or
beat of the music.

I took tap dancing as a kid,
"shuffle, hop, down".
Not too good at it, but it was fun.

Then along came American Bandstand.
Those guys were good.
We twisted,

we strolled,

and danced
the watusi,
the hully gully,
the pony,
the monkey,
the swim
and even the Monster Mash.

I wasn't very good at any of them,
but it was fun.

Now in my new sewing space,
I've got to learn a new dance.
I have to create new dance steps
to stitch, press, and create.

What I mean is
I have to develop a new pattern
of moving from one area to another
to preform all the quilty steps we do.

Which means I'll have to
develop new neuron pathways
in my brain.
Which is a good thing.
It's getting the flow of the room
coordinated with the flow of me.
It's getting to feel comfortable within the space
and getting things done quickly and efficiently,
without wasted movement.

So far it hasn't really gone very well.
I've been doing more stumbling
than "strolling."

But I'm sure it won't be long before
I'll be

dancing.

Clean Up Time is Done

 It's taken some time,
and taken some decision making but,
when I open my sewing room door
I get a wonderful surprise!

A functional space

ready for a new year of

SUPER fun!

I have this plaque as a reminder.

My daughter's kindergarten class
has a clean up song
that they sing at the end of the day.
 "Clean up, clean up,
Everyone, Let's clean up"

I'm thinking that maybe I should
sing that song,
"Clean up, clean up,
Kyle, you'd better clean up.
You don't want to do this again."

Until maybe next year.
