I Spy Pie

It seems like it's been forever since my friends,
The Quilty Buddies,
have gotten together
to stitch,
inspire, and laugh.

To start the year off,
our Quilty Buddy, Debbie,
was the domestic Pie Diva.
Debbie was a good sport and wore the
official Diva apron.

I know she must have baked all day to create
her masterpiece.

No worries, Debbie, your pie was perfect.
There isn't any pie more classic and classy
than a lattice topped cherry pie.
Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this
pie was to die for.

You can tell that Debbie has grandchildren
and knows the importance of everyone
getting an equal slice of pie.
She's great at measuring and
keeping everyone happy.

Have a great weekend and

Holiday Countdown, Friendship and Pie

Here we are, December.
The holidays are just around the corner.

The word FRIENDSHIP is a wonderful December word.
Spending time with girlfriends is an activity to cherish.

The Quilting Buddies met to celebrate the season
with fun, friendship, quilts and, of course, pie.

A couple of weeks ago while I was gone, our Pie Diva,
was Michelle.

She was ready to get us into the Thanksgiving spirit
with the classic Pumpkin Pie.
But her pie crust was anything but traditional.
The crust was flaky and tender.
Her secret...vodka.
Michelle is always on the cutting edge.
If you want to try it, check here.
I have tried this before and it's excellent.
Don't worry, the alcohol vaporizes in the oven!

Last night we met again.
This time Lillie was our holiday hostess.

She met us at the door ready with the holiday spirit
and the Diva apron.

It is so wonderful to have friends that are more like "sisters".
In our quest for pie knowledge and diversity,
Lillie made a pie with all the right ingredients.

It was called Chocolate Velvet Butterscotch Pie.
It was delicious.
Yes, it's back to the treadmill today, but
it was so worth it last night.

Count FRIENDSHIP as an important word in December.
Share some time with the people who enrich your life
and, of course, will serve you PIE!

Q-T-Pies

I always look forward to the special
time when my Quilt group gets Together.

Last night was a fall tradition.
We meet at Cathy's
for our special chili dinner to celebrate her
Halloween birthday.
Here we are.
It's a tradition to take a group picture.
Even though we were missing a couple of members
we still look pretty good.
Cute, in fact.

Besides dinner, dessert is a must.
Who was the Pie Diva tonight?
Can you find the apron?

Audrey was the Pie Diva this evening.

Audrey, the Diva of the Month!!

Audrey was thinking very traditional by bringing
Apple Pie, the ultimate American Pie.
There's probably as many ways to make this pie
as there are people who make pies.

Audrey choose to do hers with a crumb topping.
It was wonderful.

Because she is gluten intolerant, her crust was
gluten free.  It was very good.  You would never have
known that part was nontraditional.

It was a fun evening.
Quilting + Together + Pie

What more could you want.

Another Diva

It was another meeting of the "Quilty Buddies".
That means three things.
First, it is a wonderful time of friendship and laughter.
Secondly, it is a opportunity to share our quilt projects with
one another and get motivated
because of everyone's exciting and brilliant ideas.
And thirdly, it's time for another Quilty Buddy
to be transformed into "The Pie Diva" and  wear
the "Domestic Diva Apron".

The requirements are that you must wear the apron
and serve a scrumptious pie for dessert.

This time it was Becky's turn.
Isn't she sweet and so nonchalant?

But take a look at her dessert.

A Chocolate Espresso Tart

Doesn't that look like a mile long tart of chocolate goodness?
It was, especially with those gorgeous rosettes of chocolate ganache.

Some of us have been using Martha Stewart's
Pies and Tarts cookbook as our source of inspiration.

Becky chose this particular dessert because when
we first saw the book this tart was on the back cover and just looking at it made
our taste buds start aching.

That's the fun part about being the "Domestic Pie Diva", it gives each of us the
opportunity to serve something above and beyond the norm.
Maybe even stretch our culinary skills.
And it's just plan fun.

It was another perfect meeting of quilting friends...
 stitching,
sharing,
and
savoring a special  time together.
"A little Halloween humor."
