3 Cheers

 Despite the fact that fireworks
and firecrackers were pretty much
finished last weekend,
I continue to look at the month of July
as the Red, White and Blue month.

That way I don't feel bad
finishing up this cute free embroidery pattern

I had taken the pattern and enlarged it,
did some coloring with crayons,
heat set the color,
and finished up with the embroidery.

It became the perfect size for a
small holiday pillow.
 (11" x 17")
I decided it needed the rickrack to
frame the piece and, of course,
so many things look better with rickrack.
Don't you agree?

It was nice to have a smallish project to work on.
Something to pick up and work on and
relax with.

 We've had a rainy week
here in colorful Colorado,
lots of welcomed rain and moisture.
And it's found me inside
busily sewing on a project that
I can show you next week.
Let's just say, it's the kind of
thing only a Nana would do
for her sweet grandkiddos.
Not necessarily smallish or relaxing.

 Until Next Time-

  1. Absolutely adorable! I love the addition of the rickrack. Happy July to you!

  2. Very cute pillow and I bet it shows beautifully in your home. Can’t wait to see the Nana project!

  3. That rickrack is the perfect finish for that pillow! Adorable ... and I too cannot wait to see the Nana project.

  4. I love the rickrack! And the coloring, What a sweet little pillow :0) Very curious to see what you're working on now.

  5. A very sweet finish--and the rickrack is the perfect finishing touch.
I am also still working up some little r/w/b projects.
Hasn't the rain been refreshing? It is pretty much over for us, now.
Looking forward to seeing what Nana is up to. : )

  6. so so cute! I love the ric rac trimming - what a sweet pillow.

  7. Very cute, I use crayons alot too. I love the way they just hint at colour

You have me curious what you are working on now ;-)

    Have a great weekend !

  9. Enlarging the design was a good idea. When I saw the pillow, I was trying to think if the design was big enough to do something like that.

  10. Cute pillow, I love seeing other peoples decorations for special events to jazz up the house.

  11. Rick rack rules!! I think we all love it - your choice of the red is perfect. A very dear holiday pillow.

  12. I love you darling pillow! The rick rack was an awesome embellishment!

  13. Very cute. Neighborhood bike parades were very popular in our area this past 4th of July.

  14. Darling! Looking forward to the Nana project. A fort? Tent? Stay dry.

  15. So cute. I love Crabapple Hill patterns. I am working on a Christmas one, also colored and embroidered. We are all anticipating your next blog.

  16. What a gorgeous pillow!! Such a cute design and I love the effect the colouring in gives it. The ric rac frames it perfectly!

  17. That pillow turned out so cute! The rick rack does frame the design very nicely. Looking forward to your unveiling.

  18. Hello Kyle, what a lovely holiday pillow! And you are so right: a rickrack always brings a smile to my face..... so much memories.... I most of my childhood-cloths had rickracks on them....... (long time ago..).
Looking forward to your surprise for the grandkids!
I also look after my grandkids for a few days a week and now we have summervacation..... I really miss them! Maybe that's why I'm so fast with my UFO-pile...... ;)
Love from the Netherlands, enjoy your indoor-stitchiing.....

  19. Gorgeous pillow! You have a lovely blog. :)
