Did you see the full moon this month?
It's lunar charm was shining brightly.
Here in the US it's sometimes called the
buck moon, as it's the time of the year
when male deer begin to grow their antlers
or the Thunder Moon due to the increased
number of thunderstorms.
Here, it's referred to as the
time to check in with Julie and
the rest of her Log Cabin Loonies.
I have been working on my
Strawberry and Chocolate quilt.
Strawberry and Chocolate quilt.
I played with several different arrangements
using the 16 blocks and finally settled on this one.
It seemed kind of magical to have pulled
all the strips out of this bin.
Who would have realized
that this quilt was in there, so to speak.
It was just waiting for me to pull out the right
strips and sew them together!
Is that due to some
mystical lunar influence?
We'll see what happens by August 18th,
the next full moon.
Until Next Time-Kyle
Great log cabin quilt! Wow, that must be a magic bucket.
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
I don't know where you find your wonderful images, but they are a hoot! I love the "Strawberries and Chocolate"! I especially love the little bits of green to add to the deliciousness.
ReplyDeleteKyle I absolutely love this project!! Your fabrics and gorgeous and the color combination is so wonderful. I'm loving watching your progress - it makes me want to start one too :0)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the Moon had some influence on this quilt..it is magical that such a gorgeous quilt top came from a bucket of random scraps! LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteJust 9 words : I'm - in - love - with - your - strawberry - and - chocolate - log ! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your chocolate and strawberries top. How neat that you had enough scrap fabric for those fussy cut centers.
ReplyDeleteI like this color combination! When I was making some pink and brown blocks a few months ago for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge I started to think about those sugar wafer cookies that come in a pack with strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.
ReplyDeleteWas the bin filled with random strips or did you cut to fill the bin. I so like pink and brown together and especially in a log cabin quilt.
ReplyDeleteA really beautiful combination, Kyle. You have some really nice prints in your mix and your setting is lovely. Great photo of the "ballerina" too! Can't wait to see what the next moon brings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful fabric and color choice of your log Cabin blocks!
ReplyDeleteLove the little fussy cut centers in your log cabins. Gonna be a beauty!
ReplyDeleteGorgreous Strawberries and Chocolate top! Your fabrics go together just as deliously as the real thing!
ReplyDeleteWhat an outfit that lady has on, hilarious! Beautiful full yellow moon here mid week, but too wet since to see it. Love the way the pink really shines as crosses in this pattern, looks great. Its amazing what comes from scrap collections!
ReplyDeleteYour strawberries and chocolate top is so sweet and yummy. It is amazing what can be found in a scrap bin when you look.
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely something magical about your scrap quilt. The pinks and browns work so well together. Love the fussy cut centers!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour scheme and I love the little centres too :) Always satisfying to use up those pesky scraps!
ReplyDeleteLoving your strawberries and chocolate! Perfect little center chimney square with the fussy cutting too. Oh that full moon - it had a huge impact on the extreme tides in Homer this week / made for a "ride 'em cowboy" boat trip across the wind whipped Bay - good thing I don't get sea sick...
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is magical! I really love the setting and the fabrics. What a pretty result!
ReplyDeleteAll that, from that bin?? Amazing! What a great quilt to "magic" up. Bring on the next full moon!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what hangs out in the scrap bins. Glad this beauty jumped out! Love the color combo of pink and browns.
ReplyDeleteWonderful color combination! Your scrap bin is truly magical!
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty is born. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYUM! What a perfect name for that gorgeous quilt Kyle! In your 2nd photo, because of the way you cut the fabric, it looks like there is a zipper in the middle of one of your logs! LOL I love this classic setting you used - GREAT! Where I live, the July full moon always means Antelope by Moonlight - a nighttime bike ride my hubby has been involved with for 23 years now. It begins at 10 PM on Antelope Island - which is in the middle of the Great Salt Lake - quite an event! (there is a paved road out to the island, in case you were wondering!)
ReplyDeleteJust noticed the fussy cut centers in each block - PERFECTION!
DeleteOh my I saw the moon on the way home from guild. It was pure orange and gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYour pink and brown LC ares so great. I love that color combo.
