How quickly, it seems,
we can go from this...
to this...
With a few flips of the calendar pages
the seasons change.
I've continued to work on and
even finish some of my 17 in 2017.
My most recent finish,
"Let It Snow" will be ready and
waiting when winter decides to return.
Let It Snow
37" x 30"
This was a delightful free BOM wool applique
pattern designed by Stacy of
The reason it was on my 17 in 2017 list
was because it was last year's free pattern!
It's still available on her website for purchase,
if you're interested.
I found the black flannels for the backgrounds in my stash,
and the wool as well.
Years ago I bought this wool skirt at the Goodwill,
felted it,
and who knew years later it would become snow.
The blocks were fun and easy.
By simply changing the cardinal to a blue jay
it personalized the block for my neck of the woods.
(No, cardinals here)
Adding some buttons or
beads is another way
to make a pattern your own.
I had planned to add a more extensive border,
but it just wasn't in me to keep going.
I simply quilted in the ditch and
added some snowflakes in the borders.
I'm simply going to let the blocks
speak winter.
Another finish from my list.
It's a great way to enjoy the summer.
Check out what others have finished on their lists
by visiting Meredithe's blog,
Until Next Time-
Kyle
I just love your snowman quilt...I started that one and stalled! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI love your Let it Snow quilt. I wanted to make this quilt but I didn't keep up with getting the free patterns. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou don't need anything more in order for this quilt to speak winter! Lovely job, Kyle.
ReplyDeleteI managed to save the patterns for this, but that was as far as it went.
Very sweet finish!
What a lovely cold finish for a hot summer day :0) I love how you personalized some of the blocks. It will bring you so much pleasure to bring this finished project out to use this winter.
ReplyDeleteKyle me encantan los muñecos de nieve
ReplyDelete¡¡los tuyos son deliciosos!!
buena semana
Such a cute little quilt! Love the winter picture!
ReplyDeleteI love your Let It Snow. I had seen that pattern on a couple of other blogs a while ago. Your embellishments really add a lot to the blocks.
ReplyDeleteI have to update my UFO list and blog about it soon...but, I'm still on break right now :)
I'm trying to decide if working on a snow-themed quilt kept you cool in the hot summer temperatures. Or if it made you extra hot because it's made with wool? LOL In either case, it's a great finish!
ReplyDeleteLove this wall hanging on the black, makes all the lovely colours stand out. Great finish!
ReplyDeleteA great finish all ready for the coming cold! Wool work is still in my future, but seeing sweet little finishes like this sure will increase the chances of actually "getting to it."z
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your lovely woolly winter finish!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish Kyle! (And most appropriate for me to read about this morning as it's freezing cold here!). Your 17in17 list is looking very good!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super quilt - well done on another finish!!
ReplyDeleteThis is very cute ; congrats on another finish :)
ReplyDeleteSew sweet! This will be a wonderful way to welcome winter, Kyle.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet finish! Absolutely adorable. I am one of those crazy people who wishes winter would hurry up and come. I love the Blue Jay. I wish I could send you a few of our Cardinals. They are indeed lovely, but why is it that the brightest bird in the tree also has to be the loudest? I'm an early riser, but my poor husband wants to relocate them!
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I also used a recycled wool skirt for my snow but mine was a grey and white hounds tooth plaid that I found in all places Palm Spring.s! Seeing yours quilted and finish inspires me to hurry up and start quilting mine. But we're expecting temps into the 90's or close to it today and the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, love how you finished yours off!
So cute! Yeah, that skirt did work perfectly for the snow. :) We only get cardinals for a tiny flicker each year as they pass through. If you blink too much, you won't catch a peek at them!
ReplyDeleteYou will be so happy admiring your snowman quilt this winter - great finish!
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely, Kyle. The rich colours look great on the black background. I think you will be thrilled with this come Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super fun finish! You're gonna love this one come winter.:)
ReplyDeleteWow that is such a fun design!!! There's a lot of work in each of those blocks, love all the details :-) Congratulations on your finish,
ReplyDeleteHelen
Congrats on a wonderful finish! I'm amazed at how every Let It Snow that I've seen have been so different from each other. Yours is so striking and I love your little blue jay! I'm not ready for snow yet though--lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish, Kyle! I think that 2017 list is working :) Love that you recycled a wool skirt. All the blocks are charming and the bluejay is perfect!
ReplyDeleteHey, Kyle - I forgot to say how super cool I think your list graphic is! Did you make that yourself?
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful bom, congrats on your finish. I never worked with wool or flannel.
ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful Kyle! You must be thrilled. Love the snowmen. Personalizing the quilt with the Bluejay is such a clever idea. Love it.
ReplyDeleteMy mother had a Jantzen bathing suit in black just like the yellow one in the picture. She still had it when she passed away though it had not been worn since I was a child.
