This week it was time for me to switch gears.
I had been working on an embroidery
while I had been recently traveling.
In fact, it was a pattern from Crabapple Hill Studios
that I had purchased over a year ago while
attending one of Meg Hawkey's wonderful retreats.
Now it's done.
"Old Glory"
A patriotic design done in brighter
more contemporary floss colors.
The part that draws the most attention
is the use of gold bugle beads to
look like a sparkler.
Too cute!
I was determined I could find something
in my stash that would work for the pillow.
I eventually found the perfect back and cording fabric.
A piece that has to be about 20 years old, but
it worked.
(Never give up your stash!)
Summer is the time for
flowers, fireworks and flags.
This little pillow is going to be enjoying
the summer months on my back porch.
Until Next Time-
Kyle
Very cute cushion! Ready in time for Independence Day celebrations!
ReplyDeleteWhat totally charming embroidery. Very special. Ahhhhhhh I know what you mean about stash. I culled my stash a couple years ago and haven't missed anything but....
ReplyDeleteLove it, Kyle! The brighter colours will be just the thing for summer. :D
ReplyDeleteIt's the perfect summer pillow Kyle. Totally agree with never giving up on your stash - you just never know when a piece of fabric will surface as the perfect fit for a new project.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project. I love the embroidery and you made a nice pillow with it. This perfect summer decor.
ReplyDeleteHey, nice! I so very much love the use of old stash. I mean honestly "old," not this "been in there for two whole years" old that some folks post about. hehe I know I've got some pieces of a couple, or even approaching three decades' age in mine, too. :D
ReplyDeleteKyle tu bordado es bonito
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is just darling!
ReplyDeleteA very cute pillow with lovely embroidery Kyle !
ReplyDeleteI love your patriotic pillow. In fact I love it so much I bought the same pattern about a month ago! Lol. Yours turned out beautifully. Love the bugle beads.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful embroidery! Your pillow looks great and I love the back fabric - hurrah for your stash :0)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful finish. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYour pillow is perfectly lovely, and a wonderful addition your porch decor. I agree with your habit of not getting rid of old stash, so often the perfect piece is just waiting to be 'found' again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet finish, the cushion is perfect for your Summer. Just love fireworks and never thought you would be able to stitch some in action, but the beads are perfect.
ReplyDeletewhat a charmer your pillow is! I love all the details, especially the buttons and the beads! the really capture the lightening effect of the sparklers, which I love.
ReplyDeletewhat a great post with clever photos - you always inspire us!
So cute, Kyle! Meg did a workshop here last year, but I didn't feel I could go. If that had been the class, I probably would have made it work out somehow. Love it! The beads make a great sparkler effect, and the vintage looking buttons are a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteThe gold beads are a nice touch. Really gives the feel of exploding fire works.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect pillow to use on your back porch! Love the "sparkler" beads--and the buttons :) Great fabric for the backing, too!
ReplyDeleteHow utterly sweet! I love the bugle beads. That Pilgrim & Roy line was one of my all time favorites. I still have a few tiny pieces but oh how I wish they would come out with some new 1890 neon prints. Barbara Brackman did one called Ragtime that was sensational. We need MORE! Enjoy the porch time with the new pillow!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure daddy would also agree with you to never give up your stash ;) haha!
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish! I love patriotic patterns like yours and your backing fabric is perfect!
ReplyDeleteCute pillow, and wise advice about the stash! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun pillow!!! I love the use of beads for the sparkler!!
ReplyDeleteSo delightful Kyle! It's been a long time since I did that kind of stitching, but I do really enjoy it! Cute, cute, CUTE!
