No Choices This Week

Every Sunday afternoon
I gather up all the quilting projects
I think I might work on
during my week day stay in Denver.

It's like going on a mini quilting retreat,
and I always take more things
than I'll ever get to.

But this week,
I decided to force myself to
work on only one project.
The Roseville Album Quilt
designed by Kim McLean

I'll admit,
my infatuation with this quilt
has waned.
I do have all the single blocks done, so now,
I'm working on the 4 rectanglar panels.

But each one is so complicated.
(remember when I was working on these trees!)
Each panel has so many pieces.
It seems to take forever to audition and
prep pieces, and then to
make a gazillion circles.
You know how I've been with circles lately.

But once I get going,
I have to admit,
I love doing the appliqueing.
I think this may be
the only way "this quilt" might eventually
get done.

I'm forcing myself to work on it.
I don't have any other choices.

Until Next Time-

  6. The Roseville quilt is so beautiful! I admire you for undertaking such a challenging quilt! The picture you posted of the panel drawn out really emphasizes how many little pieces there are and how complicated the pattern is.

  7. The prep part, the auditioning of fabrics -- I agree that's the time consuming and boring part of any quilt. Hopefully you'll keep going on your version of this outstanding project. You'll be proud of yourself if you do.

  8. What a finish this will be!! Are you sticking pretty close to the pattern colors, or are you changing the look at all? I can't imagine even tackling such a thing. Kudos to you!!

  13. This must feel daunting - but knowing you have the center blocks completed will keep you going. Stitch by stitch...
The peek at what fabrics you are using in the wider block borders looks fabulous.

  14. That is one of my all time favourite quilts!! I admire anyone that takes it one, I can just imagine the work that goes into choosing fabrics and prepping. It's looking so wonderful though and you're more than halfway through!

  15. It is beautiful! Looks like you are on the downhill side, and that can be motivating. Also, must help not having any other temptations close at hand to work on ;-)
