What do you do when you have an itch?
Why, you scratch it, of course.
I've had a sewing itch ever since I
got the latest copy of Quiltmania, issue 121.
What's got me so itchy?
The pattern Comfort and Joy designed by Jo Morton.
photo from the magazine
What has made the scratching so easy and pleasurable
is the fact that I had so many of her fabrics
and the border print.
It seemed the perfect pattern to use
some of these fabrics.
I even threw in one of Di Ford's new
Clotted Creams and Caramels
I jumped right in making
larger hst's
and then scrappy half square triangles
using the magic 8 method.
The Bloc-Loc ruler
was waiting it's turn to start
trimming.
If I was a more careful stitcher, maybe I
wouldn't have to trim, but I'm not,
so a tool like the Bloc-Loc ruler is
my very good friend.
These Lady of the Lake blocks
are sweet and easy to do
especially,
if the half square triangles are the perfect size.
But, then I had to stop.
I got a little busy
with another good itch that needed to be scratched.
I had visitors over the weekend
and we needed to play.
And that required a trip to the pumpkin patch
in search of the perfect pumpkin.
Then there were these two little pumpkins
also at Nana's house.
Perfect too!
I'm hoping it won't be too long
before I'm able to get the blocks sewn together.
You never know when I might have another itch.
Until Next Time-
Kyle
Oh what fun! Both the quilt and Nana time are delightful ways to spend your time. I love the pumpkin rolling picture. What a cutie pie!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that is the perfect itch to have. I love that pattern. Glad you had such sweet visitors over the weekend. Can't wait to see your quilt come together.
ReplyDeleteI love your itchy quilt!! Your babies are so darling...pumpkins pictures are so much fun. We went to the Dallas Arboretum last weeken...millions of pumpkins!!

Tus pitufinos son una delicia ¡¡¡disfruta de tu tiempo de Güelita (abuela en mi región)
I have always loved this pattern and it is stunning in Jo's fabrics. Yours will be equally gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be beautiful with such lovely fabrics :0) I always have to trim my hst's too. Those little kiddies are so cute!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I love the photos from the pumpkin patch! The kids are so adorable, and the quilt is going to be amazing. Fun times at your house for sure.
ReplyDeleteSweet times with the wee ones!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous, cozy looking quilt. It was meant to be, if you even had the border fabric!!
Can't ask for more pleasurable itches than all those! Yes, I would be drooling over that Quiltmania pattern also if I didn't already have so many squirrels, er quilt tops, hanging around here waiting finishing.
ReplyDeleteCute blocks, little boys and babies! Looks like you had lots of fun with the visitors. I am not a big fan of half square triangles but this block is great. I recently brought a ruler to trim half square triangles but it is not doing it for me, so might need to find a block lock, thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteIt will be so fun to watch those littles grow up together - only a couple of my grandchildren are close to the same age so they don't play together as well. I love that quilt and use the same method for making lots of HSTs as you do - good tools make all the difference, right? Your border fabric will be perfect for this - what size are you making? Hope you get to do more sewing soon......
ReplyDeletewhat cute little pumpkins those kids are. I love cut out photos - too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteYour lady of the lake blocks are beautiful. What a wonderful traditional pattern they are. Your quilt will surely be beautiful. I am using the easy eight method on my baskets. its so great

ReplyDeleteMmmmm I adore your new project. Gorgeous fabrics, with those little pops of blue. Who can resist all that brown and pink/red. I too am itching to start a new project... but the stronger feeling I have right now is to finally finish some ongoing projects. Looks like great fun in the pumpkin patch, for sure!
