We're Both Designers

Despite all the rain drops
and cold temps, it's May.
We're suppose to be outside doing
 spring yard work.

Well, Running Man has.

He's been designing and digging and
 has outdone himself this year.
He's dug
up a huge section
of the front yard,

hauled in big rocks,

planted 125 assorted shrubs and ground covers,

created a dry creek bed,
 and

hauled more rock.

Me, on the other hand,
have been using these rainy days
for designing as well.

Although, in a much different way.
 Fussy cutting designs from my
coveted Dutch Chintz fabric pieces,

and coordinating all the design elements
for part 2 of Petra Prin's mystery quilt
from Quiltmania.
Part 3 arrived last week so either
I need to work faster or

hope for more rainy days.

Until Next Time-

  2. Is Running Man for hire???:-) Our gardens could stand a redo after 20 years! But it looks like he is going to be busy for awhile - that is a lot of rock and many wonderful plants to move!! You will make the cover of House & Garden...Much needed rain here this evening so no excuse not to do a little stitching. Love your fussy cutting from the chintz.

  7. Your garden or landscape....whatever you would call it....looks like ti would be oh so beautiful. I am no good at taking care of plants or pulling weeds. Plain and simple for me. I need one of those rock yards like you see in southwest Texas, Arizona, etc.

  12. awesome landscaping by running man, very impressed! I love to garden, but putting off the big landscaping ideas in my head because my back doesn't like hauling rocks or planting the multiple trees I want to put in. Still after seeing your new garden, I might just kick DH out of bed on Saturday and point him in the right direction!

  15. What an amazing and ambitious landscaping project, it looks fantastic! We have been the opposite, our warm weather has continued much longer than usual. I quite like gardening, but I'd much rather be inside sewing on a rainy day. Lovely fabric choices make for a great project.

  16. Wowzers Kyle! My hubby is a landscape architect so I can definitely admire and appreciate all his design and installation work on your yard! It's absolutely beautiful and will only become more so as the plants grown and mature!!! I adore your fussy cutting - I think I should have requested that my friend from Holland bring me some of those wonderful Dutch Chintz fabrics when she came for a visit - I'm so jealous! Do you use glue when you do your EPP or use thread to stitch through the foundation papers? I've had the best luck with glue when I'm fussy cutting.....

  18. 125 plants! Well, I know landscaping is very satisfying work, I'm sure he had a great time. It will be nice to see it grow in. Your Petra Prins quilt is shaping up well too -- I think it was a good idea to buy the kits. Have fun!
