Think Spring

It finally feels like spring.
I'll dismiss the fact that
the weather on Wednesday, May 1,
is predicted to be 38 degrees
and, guess what?
SNOW!

So I'll hurry to take this picture
of my finished pillow
  "Sweet Violette"
with my very stunted tulips.

The pattern called for lace and no border.
I added a border and rick rack.
This Amy Butler fabric called
 Deco Dots
was the perfect color and
added some whimsey to counterbalance the
formality of the embroidery.
I liked how it turned out.

Another sign of spring is
The boys of summer are back.
The pelicans have arrived.

A wonderful bird is the pelican
His bill will hold more than his belican.

He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week,
But I'm damned if I see how the helican.
         Ogden Nash

Welcome back, Pete the Pelican
and all the other Re Pete's.
Enjoy spring while you can.
Until Next Time-

  2. I love your sweet spring pillow! What a joy when our migrating winged friends return! No pelicans in our neck of the woods, but the goldfinches have returned, the swallows are in the valley but we haven't seen them on our hillside yet.

Wow, that's a lot of Pelicans!
We don't have any here in VA so it's lovely to see them in pictures!

  5. Such a pretty piece of embroidery! The Ogden Nash poem brings back childhood memories for me - I used to check out a book of his poems (with fun illustrations) over and over. Thanks for the smile.

  7. The pillow turned out beautifully!
There is a small body of water near us called "Pelican Pond" because of these interesting birds. We don't see nearly that many at a time, however.

  9. Your pillow is just perfect on this spring day - and yet our weather for tomorrow sounds like yours!! How crazy!! We don't have pelicans but the pond is home once again to nesting geese and ducks. Waiting on our little hummingbird friends now.

Happy stitching and stay cozy tomorrow.
