CQC's Capitol Quilt Show

 Something's coming.
Some thing great.

What's hidden in these pillowcases?

Just a small portion of the approximately
275 quilts
that will be hung at the Colorado State Capitol Building

in Denver this summer and early fall.

The 2013 Quilt Show is sponsored by
the Colorado Quilting Council.
It will be displayed from
July 29-October 10.
It's a magnificent venue for
spectacular quilts of all colors, patterns and designs.

And if that isn't enought
this years show has been expanded to include
 approximately 45 more quilts
hung in the Denver Central Public Library
in the 5th floor's reading room.

This show has been put together and displayed every other year
since 1988.

And the best thing is that it's free.
The capitol is open to visitors during normal business hours,
7:30 am until 5:00 pm.
Monday through Friday.

The quilts on display at Denver Central Public Library are
available for viewing during their regular businness hours as well.
Check their website for hours.

If you're in the area, I hope you'll
take some time to visit this wonderful show.
There's some beautiful quilts to enjoy.

Quilt-A-Fair

I had another opportunities to get a quilting fix.
  This weekend
 the Colorado Quilting Council
put on it's annual
 Quilt-A-Fair.

It's a combo of vendors, quilt show,
 demos, and more vendors.

A slow economy?
Look out.
 Quilters can move fast
when there's new kits, pattern and fabric available.

My friends and I circled around
and through the booths.
Stopping,
considering,
rationalizing,
then making a few purchases.

One of my favorite booths
is an antique booth from Sioux Falls, SD.
I always seem to find something.

Sure enough,
underneath other things
were these delicious indigo blue and shirting
churn dash blocks.

There are 39 blocks
in mint condition.

 Mostly machine stitched,

a few hand pieced,
but a wonderful collection of indigos and shirtings.

It's now been added to the list
of "some day."

A Quilt Fix

I have been needing a quilting fix
and some girl friend time.
This weekend we arranged to attend "Quilt Colorado"
sponsored by the Colorado Quilting Council.
 It was a wonderful show,
 a vendors mall,
 and classes and lectures.
by some fantastic teachers.

Any time you have the opportunity to
attend a quilt show,
it is sheer inspiration.
Just listen to the people around you,
everyone is excited,energized, and spellbound
at the creativity that is surrounding them
all made with fabric and thread.

There were many quilts that just left me awestruck,
but here are just a few that might do the same for you.
